Statoil Awards Technip a Contract for Asgard Subsea Compression Stations
Statoil awarded Paris-based Technip a contract for future intervention services on the Asgard Subsea Compression Stations, confirming the leadership of the French company in subsea infrastructures.
‘The Asgard subsea compression facility is the world’s first project of its kind,’ reads a note released on Tuesday, referring to the project 200 kilometres off Norway.
The company did not disclose the value of the contract, but it said that it was in the 100 - 250 million euro range.
“This award strategically positions us to meet future industry requirements for heavy IMR related work, requiring ability to handle heavier loads in harsh environments. We are indeed looking forward to taking on this challenge together with Statoil,” Odd Strømsnes, Managing Director of Technip in Norway, commented.
The subsea gas compression is designed to enable the gas to gain the needed additional pressure to be transported through the pipeline to the platform. Those infrastructure increase the recovery factory and the producing life for gas fields.
In August, the company was awarded by Shell Offshore an engineering, procurement and installation contract for a development in the US Gulf of Mexico.
