FSRU BW Batangas on track to be delivered to Philippines this year

BW Batangas, a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) owned by BW LNG, will be delivered to First Gen Corp. later this year, BW LNG said on LinkedIn on April 10. The FSRU will be deployed by First Gen for its Batangas LNG import terminal in the Philippines.

“With delivery expected around the end Q2/start of Q3 this year, we are honoured to have our FSRU play a role in strengthening energy security and resilience for the Philippines,” BW LNG said.

BW Batangas is at present undergoing modifications at the MMHE Shipyard in Johor, Malaysia. The FSRU will be chartered to First Gen for up to 10 years.

BW Batagangas was earlier called BW Paris. Fgen LNG and BW LNG executed a five-year deal in 2021 for the charter of BW Paris.

Fgen LNG believes the project will play a critical role in ensuring the energy security of the Luzon grid and the Philippines, particularly as the indigenous Malampaya natural gas resource is expected to decline in the next few years.
