Galilee Completes Oz Glenaras Multi-Well Pilot
Galilee Energy has drilled the final well at the Glenaras pilot project in Queensland on time and within budget, the Sydney-listed explorer said on October 20.
The Glenaras 22 vertical well, spudded on October 11, has reached its target depth, intersecting the full Betts Creek coal section, Galilee said. The rig used was released on October 16.
“The Glenaras 22 well has been cased and suspended for future production which completes the drilling of the five well pilot enhancement programme safely, ahead of schedule and within budget," the company said.
The Glenaras gas project is located in permit ATP 2019, which is 100% owned and operated by Galilee. The permit is around 4,000 km2 in size.
“We now have an enhanced multi-well pilot over the full Betts Creek section which provides the platform for us to drawdown a large area of coal below critical desorption pressure which we expect will progress to material gas rates,” managing director Peter Lansom stated.
The crew for the completions rig has been mobilised to site and will start completing the wells with pumps in the coming days, Galilee said. It aims to bring the first new wells online by mid-November.
