Gas Malaysia hikes gas price by 12% q/q
Malaysian gas retailer Gas Malaysia has raised the price of its gas by 11.8% quarter on quarter to just over 30 ringgits ($7.1)/mn Btu for the three months ending September 30, it said in a stock filing on July 9.
The price includes a 1.19 ringgit/mn Btu transport tariff, a legacy gas cost pass through of 0.62 ringgit/mn Btu and a distribution tariff of 2.05 ringgit/mn Btu. The revision does not apply to sales of gas for natural gas vehicles or liquefied petroleum gas supplied in gas cylinders or in bulk, Malaysia Gas said, noting the adjustment would support its financial position.
Gas Malaysia supplies natural gas and LPG to homes, commercial businesses and industries in Malaysia. Apart from the general public, its shareholders include MMC Corp, Tokyo Gas, and Petronas Gas.
