GasNaturally Picks Wintershall Dea Exec as Head
The chief operating officer (COO) of Germany's Wintershall Dea, Dawn Summers, has been selected as president of GasNaturally, which comprises eight associations representing the European gas industry.
Summers succeeds Marco Alvera, CEO of Italian gas infrastructure company Snam. She has served as Wintershall Dea's COO since June and is responsible for Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, with some 25 years of international experience in the oil and gas sector, including at BP, Genel Energy, Origin Energy and Beach Energy.

"Tackling climate change whilst at the same time, continuing to provide energy for the world is humankind's biggest challenge," she said in a statement on December 17. "With a variety of innovative technologies, the gas sector is well-equipped to contribute to the future and the vision of a climate neutral Europe."
GasNaturally's eight members are Eurogas, European Gas Research Group, Gas Infrastructure Europe, International Association of Oil and Gas Producers, the International Gas Union, Liquid Gas Europe, Marcogaz and NGVA Europe. Summers is taking the association's helm ahead of important decisions on climate policy due to be made in Brussels in 2021. She will "advocate for gas to play a key role in reaching 2030 targets and achieving climate neutrality by 2050," Wintershall Dea said.
