Polish, Slovak Companies Choose Contractor for Feasibility Study of Natural Gas Interconnector

Polish pipeline operator Gaz-System SA. and Slovakian gas transmission system operator Eustream AS have signed a contract for a feasibility study of a Poland-Slovakia natural gas pipeline interconnector.

GAZOPROJEKT of Poland was the winner of the tender and will cooperate with Ernst & Young and Slovak company - GasTech s.r.o.

This cross-border gas pipeline would connect the natural gas transmission systems of Poland and Slovakia that may allow Poland access to supplies from the Southern Gas Corridor.

The companies plan to obtain co-financing for the project from the European Union within the Trans-European Energy Network (TEN-E) Programm, according to a Gaz-System new release.

The Polish-Slovak pipeline will be part of a planned pan-European gas transmission route, which, apart from to allowing access to Caspian gas, may in the future transport Polish shale gas to Slovakia.
