Gazprom, KMG Agree 2017 Sales
Gazprom and Kazakhstan’s KazMunaiGaz have agreed on volume of deliveries of Kazakhstan gas for 2017 of about 12.8bn m3, state producer KazMunaiGaz (KMG) has reported on the basis of recent negotiations between the two companies in Astana.
The agreement on gas export to Russia of 12.8bn m3 is strategically significant for Kazakhstan’s gas industry, noted KMG.
Gazprom bought 19.2bn m3 of gas from Central Asia in 2015 for shipments to Europe, which was 25% less than in 2014 (25.5bn m3). That 2015 figure included gas purchases from Kazakhstan of 12.6bn m3, up 15.6% year-on-year, while those from Uzbekistan increased by 3% to 3.6bn m3. In contrast, Gazprom's 2015 purchases from Turkmenistan shrank by a factor from 11bn m3 to 3.1bn m3.
KMG’s 2016 sales volumes have not yet been published.
