Gazprom Boosts Exports
Russian giant Gazprom exported 14.8bn m3 of gas to western Europe and Turkey in March 2016, up 9% year-on-year.
Gazprom's total Q1 gas exports to this region, which it terms the far abroad and excludes former Soviet republics, stood at 44.05bn m³, 28% more than the same period in 2015.
Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said that the highest demand growth was in the UK, up 245.9% at 3.2bn m3 , relative to the same quarter in last year.
During the whole of 2015, Germany was Russia's number one export market at 43.5bn m3.
Gazprom reduced gas production by 6% to 417.2bn m3 in 2015, while deliveries to the local market also decreased by 8%. However, the company's gas exports increased by 5% to 182.9bn m3 of which 142.4bn m3 was supplied to the far abroad.
