Amid a surge in gas prices over recent months, European gas storage is at an unusually low level for the time of year. Gas Infrastructure Europe estimates that the continent's facilities are 74% full, or 19.5bn m3 less than this time in 2020. Some 6.6% of the gas that was injected in the summer has already been withdrawn.
Gazprom said it was continuing to pump gas into its own European storage facilities.
