Gazprom exports to non-FSU countries surge 27% this year
Russia's Gazprom has recorded a 26.7% year-on-year growth in gas exports to countries outside the former Soviet Union so far in 2021, the state-owned company said on May 17,
Preliminary data show that Gazprom delivered 76bn m3 of gas to these countries between January 1 and May 15, versus 60bn m3 during the same period last year. Growth was driven by a 154.4% surge in supplies to Turkey and a 38.2% increase in volumes to Germany. Supplies to Italy were up 11.1%, France up 14.9%, Poland 20.3%, Bulgaria 46.5%, Romania 163.7%, Serbia 109.1% and Greece 35.5%, Gazprom said.

Gas use in Europe has surged this year, largely as a result of colder weather and economic recovery. Gazprom also reported a 18% growth in supplies to the Russian market to 19bn m3, supporting a 15.4% increase in its production to 26.9bn m3.
Gazprom noted that day-ahead contract prices at the Dutch TTF hub had reached $341/'000 m3 on May 14. High prices and increased demand have slowed down the rate of injecting gas into storage, Gazprom said, with Gas Infrastructure Europe estimating on May 15 that stocks had been replenished by only 3.9bn m3 this injection period, while over 66bn m3 were withdrawn in the 2020-2021 autumn/winter.
Gazprom said on May 13 it intended to stockpile a record 72.6bn m3 of gas in its storage facilities in Russia ahead of the next heating season.
