Gazprom Interested in Exploring Gas With Bangladesh's BAPEX

Russian gas major Gazprom is willing to work with Bangladesh’s state owned oil and gas company BAPEX to explore natural gas in the South Asian nation, reported bdnews24.com, a Bangladeshi news website.

The proposal came up on Thursday during a meeting between Gazprom CEO Valeriy Gulev and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka.

The website reported that Gazprom was even open to working with BAPEX in a third country.

Although Gazprom does not have a gas field in Bangladesh, it has helped develop five wells and explore a further five over the past two years, bdnews24.com said.

The Russian firm would be developing two more gas wells in Bangladesh, the website said.
