Gazprom Interested in Mozambique Gas Assets
Gazprom has expressed desire to acquire Eni’s gas assets in Mozambique.
Talking to Reuters, Gazprom’s spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov said, “We are interested in (Eni's gas assets) in Mozambique.” Kupriyanov declined to elaborate.
Earlier this month, Eni sold 20% stake in its Mozambique gas asset, Area 4, to China’s CNPC. The Italian firm still holds 50% share in the asset. Reuters said that Eni’s Chief Executive Paolo Scaroni said the company may yet sell more.
The remaining shares in the Area are held by Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos de Mocambique (ENH, 10%), Kogas (10%) and Galp Energia (10%).
