East European Gas Analysis: Why does Gazprom want to build the less efficient Nord Stream-3 pipeline?
"Gas transit through Belarus via the Yamal – Europe-1 gas pipeline is the most cost efficient for us today", - Aleksey Miller, the head of Gazprom, said earlier this month about the supply route of Russian gas to Europe.
If this is true, then why does Gazprom want to build Nord Stream-3 and -4 instead of laying a new line along the most efficient route through Belorussia and Poland?
