Gazprom Neft Plans Arctic Gas Complex
Russian oil firm Gazprom Neft intends to build a major gas processing and compression complex at the Novoportovskoye oilfield in the Arctic, state engineering design agency Glavgosexpertiza reported on January 17.
Announcing its approval of the plans, Glavgosexpertiza said the complex would annually handle around 11bn m3 of associated petroleum gas and 5.1bn m3 of dry gas starting in 2022. These supplies will be pumped into Russia’s national gas system via a 20.5bn m3/yr pipeline Gazprom Neft wants to construct across the Gulf of Ob.
Novoportovskoye is one of the largest fields in the Russian Arctic, with 250mn mt of oil and condensate and 320bn m3 of gas. Currently all the gas it produces is either re-injected into reservoirs or used to generate electricity at the site. Gazprom Neft also plans to drill a number of extra gas wells at the field.
