Gazprom Output up, Exports Down Jan-Aug
Gazprom expanded production by 1.7% to 331bn m3 yr/yr in January through August, but suffered a 4.5% dip in exports to Europe to 127.3bn m3, the company reported on social media on September 2.
The decline in Gazprom's sales to its core market came as the continent has increased its intake of LNG from the US and other suppliers including Yamal LNG, putting pressure on the Russian company's business.
Russia’s national gas supplier noted in a message shared on Facebook that deliveries to several key customers on the continent nevertheless rose. Shipments to Hungary were up 50.5%, Austria 32.2%, the Czech Republic 35.4%, Slovakia 40.4%, the Netherlands 12% and France 5.6%, it said. It added that its Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea was now 76% complete, up one percentage point from last week.
