Gazprom Promotes Export Boss to Board
Elena Burmistrova has been appointed deputy chairwoman of the Gazprom board in charge of foreign trade activities, including trade in the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Russian monopoly said April 1. That position had been held by Alexander Medvedev, who left suddenly in February. She remains head of Gazprom Export, which deals with countries outside the former Soviet Union.
A number of other changes have also taken place in the composition and functions of the Gazprom leadership, the gas monopoly. Oleg Aksyutin is now deputy chairman in charge of strategic development, long-term planning, project planning, the shaping and monitoring of the investment programme, and procurement activities of Gazprom.
Vitaly Markelov, another deputy chairman, will oversee production operations, including hydrocarbon exploration, production, transportation, underground storage, processing and sales in the domestic market, the power sector, and interaction with governmental authorities.
Igor Fedorov has been appointed head of Gazprom Germania, which runs many of Gazprom's European gas marketing and trading operations. He will be replaced as board member by Sergey Kuznets.
Andrey Kruglov has been relieved of his post as deputy chairman owing to his appointment to the civil service.
