The Baltic Course: Gazprom raises gas volume to EU via Belarus
Russian gas monopoly Gazprom Chief Executive Alexei Miller said that the company would raise the volume of gas to the EU via Belarus to 4bn cubic metres in 2012. Transit of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine has been about 17% lower for almost a week than in January. The Nord Stream pipeline was introduced three months ago.
Until recently, any change in pressure in the pipeline has caused some decrease in loading Yamal-Europe pipeline, which goes to Germany via Belarus and Poland. It’s turned out that Gazprom was giving some space for the Ukrainian gas corridor in Yamal-Europe pipeline, Korrespondent.net reported.
Given the Nord Stream previous loading volumes, the pumping through Yamal-Europe has grown up to its maximum levels since the middle of last week, informed a source in the industry. Currently, two gas lines pump more than 114m cubic metres of gas per day, which is 50 million cubic meters more than the volumes, transported through Yamal pipe over the same period last year, news agencies reported.
