Gazprom to Explore for Gas in Kyrgyzstan
Russian gas giant Gazprom will begin gas exploration in Kyrgyzstan, reported Kabar, Kyrgyz national news agency citing a statement by Ministry of Energy.
The news agency reported that the decision was announced on Monday in Bishkek during the meeting of Minister of Energy and Industry Osmonbek Artykbaev and chairman of the Board of Gazprom, member of the board of directors Vitaly Markelov, as well as other representatives of the Russian gas company.
The two parties are expected to finalise the deal later this month.
Last year, Gazprom debt ridden state owned gas firm Kyrgyzgaz. The Russian firm plans to invest $650 million over five years on modernizing Kyrgyzstan's gas pipeline network.
