Bloomberg: Gazprom Under Pressure to Cut Prices as Putin Eyes Turkish Link

OAO Gazprom is under pressure to cut prices for Turkey to help Vladimir Putin persuade his southern neighbor to replace Ukraine as Russia’s main gas transit route to Europe.

Turkey, the second-biggest consumer of Russian gas, hasn’t benefited from a slump in crude because some contracts it negotiated with Gazprom aren’t directly linked to oil prices or the spot market, according to people with knowledge of the matter. That meant Turkey was the only country to see Russian gas prices rise in January, said the people, who asked not to be named as the information isn’t public.
