GE Vernova to supply units for Tennessee Valley Authority energy complex
GE Vernova on May 6 announced the receipt of an order for 16 LM6000VELOX package solutions to be installed at Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)'s Kingston Energy Complex.
The LM6000VELOX package solutions, each comprising an LM6000 gas turbine and a generator, are expected to provide a supply of up to 850 MW of electricity upon installation. The LM6000VELOX packages are equipped with dual-fuel capability, allowing operation on both natural gas and liquid fuels to ensure flexibility in energy production.
Scheduled to commence operation in 2028, the LM6000VELOX packages feature enhancements aimed at streamlining site construction and reducing installation time for power generation utilities, engineering, procurement, and construction firms, and other industry stakeholders. The solution's quick package installation in a simple cycle configuration is expected to result in a reduced installation and commissioning schedule, leading to lower costs and improved efficiency, the company said.
