German Gas Imports Slide 15% in Jan
Germany's gas imports fell 15.1% year on year in January to 494,975 TJ, or 14.1bn m3, its trade statistics office BAFA reported on April 2. The cost of these imports shrank 40% to €2.1bn, the data showed.
Germany is supplied with gas mainly from Russia, Norway, the Netherlands, the UK and Denmark, along with domestic fields. Gazprom's exports through Ukraine have been down sharply this year compared with last year. It has paid for capacity in the country's transit system that it is not using.
