German Gasag wins Berlin Supply Contract

German gas supplier Gasag will supply the Berlin area with a mix of natural gas and biogas for a further three years from next January following a successful tender, it said November 19.

As well as a low price Gasag also "impressed with its expertise in the supply of bio natural gas," it said, which accounts for "well over 15%" of the annual supply of 870mn kWh. The contract is to last three years.

CEO Gerhard Holtmeier said Gasag supported the country's efforts in the energy transition: "We surpassed the proportion of bio-natural gas required in the tender. Berlin is thus a major pioneer in the heating transition in Germany."
