ICIS: German natural gas TSO Open Grid Europe lowers fees for 2015

Germany’s largest natural gas transmission system operator (TSO) Open Grid Europe will introduce a new fee system for 2015 that will lower transport costs for shippers.

On Monday it said that as of 1 January 2015 there will be one standard fee for entry into the system set at €3.10/KWh/h per year, as well as one exit tariff of €2.73/KWh/h per year.

Previously these fees varied depending on which of the three exit zones a shipper wanted to book capacity for.

The TSO added that from the same date transmission capacities to and from storage facilities will be discounted 50% on the above prices, which are known as stamp fees. This decision is based on the increasing role that storage plays in security of supply.
