WBJ: Grabowski: 2014 breakthrough for shale gas

Environment Minister Maciej Grabowski has declared that 2014 may be a breakthrough year in terms of exploration and extraction of shale gas in Poland.

More boreholes will be made and the first commercial extraction will take place by the end of the year, he said.

The annual extraction of natural gas in Poland amounts to 5-6 billion cubic meters and 140 billion cubic meters for conventional gas. Deposits of shale gas may be as large as 350-760 billion cubic meters.  MORE
