Grain LNG offers capacity from 2029
National Grid has invited market participants to bid for regasification capacity at the Grain LNG terminal from 2029, the operator said on July 4.
Grain LNG, situated on the isle of Grain in south England, is capable of importing 15mn metric tons/year of LNG. National Grid has given applicants until August 15 to apply for at least 360,000 m3 of storage capacity and 300 GWh/d of regasification from 2029.

"As this capacity already exists, this will enable Grain LNG to uniquely offer short-term contracts of five years or more and should result in significantly lower cost capacity versus new build terminals," National Grid said.
Once the application window closes, responses will be assessed and the product offering finalised, and the need for an auction will be determined.
Grain LNG is the largest of the UK's three LNG terminals, accounting for 40% of its overall regasification capacity.
