Greenlane wins €1.3mn deal for biogas desulfurisation equipment in Europe
Canada-based Greenlane Renewables has signed a multi-unit purchase agreement valued at €1.3mn ($1.4mn) with a customer in Europe for biogas desulfurisation equipment, the company announced on August 6. These units are designed to remove hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from raw biogas to protect downstream equipment.
Greenlane manufactures biogas desulfurisation equipment for various applications, including biogas-to-biomethane and biogas-to-power systems. The removal of H2S is essential for every biogas project.
Greenlane’s biogas desulfurisation technology involves several steps. First, raw biogas is fed into the bottom of a scrubbing tower, where it flows countercurrent to a proprietary chemical solution. Treated gas exits through the top of the scrubber. Next, the sulfur-rich solution is regenerated in a separate oxidation tank. The regenerated solution is then transferred to a sedimentation tank to separate the elemental sulfur solids. Finally, the clean, regenerated solution returns to the scrubbing tower in a continuous and efficient process.
This desulfurisation process ensures the efficient removal of H2S, thereby protecting and prolonging the life of downstream equipment.
