Hokkaido Gas to Buy Around 100,000 tons of LNG Per Year

Japan’s Hokkaido Gas has informally agreed to buy around 100,000 tons of LNG per year between 2016 and 2018, Reuters quoted a company spokesperson as saying.

The spokesperson did not disclose the name of the company from which the fuel will be sourced from but added that gas LNG will be supplied from various sources.

Date when a binding deal will be signed was also not disclosed, Reuters reported Wednesday.

The Japanese utility currently has a 11-year supply deal with Tokyo Gas for 300,000 to 400,000 tons of LNG sourced from Australia and Russia that began in 2012.

The new non-binding deal would cater to a second installed LNG-tank at Hokkaido's Ishikari import terminal set to start operations in September 2016, Reuters stated.
