Forbes: How The UK Government Has Decided To Kill Fracking For Shale Gas

Joy unconfined as the UK Government has said that it will allow continued exploration for and test drilling of shale gas in the UK. There’s been an awful lot of pressure from various groups to ban it. From the renewables industry who insist that cheap gas would kill renewables. Which, well, yes, it would, but if we get cheap energy then who cares? We’ve also had the Forward to the Middle Ages crowd who seem to think that any form of energy other than human muscle is a bad idea.

And of course, all of the bad and unfounded complaints made about the US fracking industry have made their appearances over The Pond. You know lighting tap water, polluting ground water and all the rest.

We even had the delightful sight of Andrew Rawnsley, a columnist for The Observer, telling us that there wasn’t much gas about and it wouldn’t be profitable anyway.
