Portfolio.hu: Hungary gas storage preparation for winter progresses well

The process of preparing Hungary’s natural gas storage units for the winter has progressed more than by the same time last year, state-owned electricity distributor MVM said in a statement. There are over 2,650 million cubic metres of gas stored, about 8% more than a year ago.

MVM Group has stepped up the rate of entry into storage units since the end of June and it currently places 15 million cubic metres of gas in these per day.

Gas flows to Hungary remain constant and safe. Last week the country received 14 million cubic metres of gas via Austria and 16-17 mcm via Ukraine per day. The Hungarian Natural Gas Storage Zrt. (MF) puts about two thirds of the inflow into storage units.

The Ukrainian crisis has no impact on gas imports; MVM remains in uninterrupted contact with its partners and has consultations every day, the company said late on Wednesday.
