Ichthys LNG Project Gets Final Approval
Inpex has announced the final go ahead for the Ichthys gas project in Darwin.
The Japanese firm and Total, its French partner in the project, have given final green light for the $32 billion project.
The project will result in natural gas from the Ichthys gas field, located offshore from Western Australia, pumped 889km to Darwin for processing into liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Tens of billions of dollars worth of long-term export deals have already been signed with a host of companies in Asia keen to buy the gas.
