Indian Swan Energy Gets Nod for FSRU

Swan Energy, through its 100% subsidiary company Swan LNG, has received approval from Gujarat Maritime Board to start work on a 5mn metric ton/yr LNG terminal with ancillary structures for its FSRU project at Jafrabad in western Indian state of Gujarat.

In a statement issued December 13, Swan Energy said Swan LNG has executed an engineering, procurement and construction contract for marine and dredging works worth with National Marine & Infrastructure India. The project is expected to take three years to complete.

Swan is building the terminal with Exmar of Belgium. Few state-owned energy firms have already booked capacity.

Iran gas field MoU

Meanwhile, Swan Energy December 14 said it has signed a MoU with Petronas and Alpha Energy for the development of Iran's 20 trillion ft³ Sephied Baghun gas field. The project comprises constructing on-shore surface facilities and offshore gas liquefaction facilities. The project cost is estimated to be around $615mn.

Swan Energy has the option to pick up equity stake in the special purpose vehicle that will be created to implement the project. It plans to offtake 1mn mt/yr LNG from the project and the fuel will be imported into India via the proposed FSRU terminal at Jafrabad.
