India's Gail reports 56% jump in profit in July-September
Indian state-run natural gas company Gail reported a standalone net profit of 24.04bn rupees ($300mn) in the July-September quarter, a 56% year/year jump, driven by higher gas transmission volumes. The profit also rose 70% quarter/quarter.
During the quarter, natural gas transmission volume stood at 120.31mn m3/day as against 116.33mn m3/day in the April-June quarter. Gas marketing volume stood at 96.96mn m3/day as against 98.84mn m3/day in the previous quarter. The company's revenue from the natural gas transmission segment rose 56% yr/yr.

Gail chairman Sandeep Kumar Gupta said that the company performed well during the quarter on the strength of the gas transmission segment, which he expects to continue to perform well.
