India's gas consumption up 4% in May

Indian natural gas consumption in May was up 4.2% year/year, the latest data from the Indian oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) showed.

India consumed 5.24bn m3 of gas in May compared with 5.03bn m3 in the same months of last year. The cumulative consumption during the first two months of the current fiscal year was 10.48bn m3, up from 8.48bn m3 in the year-ago period, according to PPAC data. The Indian fiscal year runs from April to March.

Meanwhile, India’s gas production last month was 2.74bn m³, up 19.1% yr/yr. The cumulative production of natural gas was 5.38bn m3 in April-May, up 21% yr/yr.
