India's Gas Demand Drops 8% in July

India’s natural gas consumption during July was 4.41bn m³, down 8.1% yr/yr, according to NGW calculation using the data published by Indian oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC).

Fertilizer manufacturers, the biggest users, consumed 1.5bn mof gas, up from 1.3bn m3 in the same month last year. Power industry consumed 0.99bn m3, up from 0.93bn m3 while refineries used 0.64bn m3, up from 0.63bn m3 in the same month last year, the data showed. City gas segment consumed 0.51bn m3 of gas versus 0.94 m3 in the same month a year ago. 

Meanwhile, India’s gas production in July was 2.44bn m3, down 10% over the corresponding month of the previous year. State-run ONGC was the biggest producer with output of 1.49bn m3, down 5.4% yr/yr.  

India’s LNG imports in July were up 6% yr/yr, PPAC said earlier this month.
