India's July LNG Imports Up 9%
India’s LNG imports in July increased year-on-year for the fourth month in a row, according to data published August 22 by Indian oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC).
Last month India imported LNG equivalent to 2.73bn m³ of pipeline gas (about 2mn metric tons), up 9.1% compared with the same month of previous year. During the first four months of this financial year, cumulative imports were 10.65bn m³, up 6.6% year-on-year. India’s financial year runs from April to March.
During the last financial year, India imported 27bn m³ of LNG, up 2.6% compared with the year before. This was the highest ever volume in one fiscal year.
