India's LNG imports drop 15% yr/yr in July

India’s LNG imports in July came in at 2.52bn m3 (about 1.86mn metric tons), down 14.9% year/year, the country’s oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) website showed on August 23. Imports were up 9% month/month, however.

During the first four months of the financial year 2021-22, imports were 10.16bn m3, up 1.9% yr/yr, PPAC said.

LNG imports in July cost some $900mn, up from $500mn in the same month last year. In the April-July period, the import bill was $3.1bn compared with $1.9bn in the year-ago period, PPAC data showed. In the financial year 2020-21, the import bill was $7.4bn.
