India's LNG imports rise in August

India's LNG imports continued to rise in August, building on an 11% year/year increase in June and a 14.8% jump in July.

According to provisional data released on September 16 by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, LNG imports for August reached 2.79bn m³ (approximately 2mn tonnes), reflecting a 2.4% year/year increase.

Cumulatively, imports for the first five months of the current financial year, ending in March 2025 (FY2025), amounted to 15.06bn m³, marking a 17.4% rise compared to the same period last year.

For the fiscal year ended March 2024 (FY2024), India imported a total of 30.92bn m3 of LNG, up 17.5% year/year, PPAC reported in April.
