India's LNG imports up 4% in April
India's LNG imports reached 2.61bn m³ (about 1.9mn tonnes) in April, marking a 3.7% increase compared with the same month last year, according to provisional data released on May 17 by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
For the fiscal year ended March 2024 (FY2024), India imported a total of 30.92bn m³ of LNG, up 17.5% year/year, PPAC reported last month. This sharp rise in imports has been driven primarily by softer global LNG prices, making LNG a more attractive energy source for India.
