India's March LNG Imports Drop

India’s LNG imports in March declined for the third month in a row, according to data published April 26 by Indian oil ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC).

The south Asian nation imported LNG equivalent to 2.2bn mof pipeline gas (about 1.7mn metric tons of LNG) last month, down 14.4% year-on-year.

LNG was procured during the month by Petronet LNG, Gail, Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, Reliance Industries, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Torrent Power and Indian Oil Corporation, PPAC said.

During the 12-months to March (India’s fiscal year runs from April to March), cumulative imports were 27bn m3, up 2.6% compared with the previous year. This was the highest ever imports during a fiscal year.
