India's Petronet plans to extend Qatar deal: Press

India's biggest LNG importer Petronet LNG is looking to extend its long-term deal with Qatar to beyond 2028, Reuters reported on August 16 citing the company's head of finance Vinod Mishra.

Petronet has a deal to buy 7.5mn metric tons/year of LNG from Qatar under a long-term deal expiring in 2028. Mishra said talks are expected to begin in 2023.

The company operates two import and regasification terminals in India, one at Dahej in west Indian and another at Kochi in south India. It plans to build a third such facility on the east coast.

Mishra said Petronet is conducting gas demand assessment ahead of placing construction orders for the project next year, Reuters reported.
