Indonesia Starts Three Gas Fields, Plans Gas Hydrate Exploration

Three gas fields in Indonesia have started production in the first quarter of 2012 with potential output of 130 million metric cubic feet per day (mmscfd).

The three fields are the APN E&F Field at the Offshore Northwest Java Block (Pertamina), the Wortel Field at Sampang Block (Santos), and Tembang Subsea Field at the Block B (ConocoPhillips).

The APN E&F and Tembang Subsea Fields produce up to 50 mmscfd and 40 mmscfd respectively. Meanwhile, the production potential for Wortel field is targeted to reach 40 mmscfd of gas, 500 barrels per day of oil, and 250 barrels per day of condensate.

Meanwhile Indonesia Today has reported that Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources is considering gas hydrates deepwater exploration on southern Sumatera–Java islands and around Sulawesi island.

However, there was no details about when the exploration will commence.
