Indonesia to See Rise in Investments in Oil, Gas Sector

Investment in Indonesian oil and gas sector is set to rise by almost 50 per cent this year to $20.9 billion as country's reserve is attractive to investors, Jakarta Post reported citing senior official from upstream oil and gas watchdog BPMigas.

"Investment is key in the development of the upstream oil and gas (sector)," BPMigas chairman Raden Priyono said.

The chairman said that the country's current reserves were attractive enough that producers would continue putting money into the sector.

BPMigas is also in discussion with finance ministry in regards to any possible incentives that could be offered to draw investors' interest.

Indonesia's economic stability makes the country's reserves a good bet for investors, Priyono said.
