Indonesia's Bukit Tua Oil, Gas Field to Commence Production Early Next Year
Indonesia’s Bukit Tua, oil and gas field that is expected to commence production early next year, according to Jakarta Globe newspaper.
“We expect Bukit Tua to start production in April 2015,” J. Widjonarko, acting head of SKK Migas said.
Widjonarko said the field, on its early production stage, is expected to produce 5,000 barrel of crude oil per day and 20 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day, reported Jakarta Globe.
Peak production is expected to hit 20,000 barrels per day of oil and 60 million standard cubic feet of natural gas.
Bukit Tua is situated 35 kilometers north off the coast of Madura Island and is part of Ketapang production sharing contract in East Java.
The Ketapang block is operated by Petronas Carigali Ketapang, which holds an 80 percent interest in the block. Petronas acquired the control of the block from ConocoPhillips since July 2008.
The remaining 20 percent stake is owned by state gas distributor Perusahaan Gas Negara through its subsidiary Saka Energi Indonesia.
