Inpex Gets Notification from Indonesian Government Regarding Abadi LNG Project
Japan’s Inpex Corporation announced Monday that it has received a notification from Indonesian government authorities instructing to re-propose a plan of development based on onshore LNG for the Abadi LNG project.
The notification is in response to the revised plan of development submitted to Indonesian government authorities on September 3, 2015 envisioning the adoption of a FLNG plant with an annual LNG processing capacity of 7.5 million tons, Inpex stated.
“The company will carefully examine the contents of the notification, and intends to work closely with the Indonesian government authorities aiming for the early start-up of development,” the company added.
Late last month, Indonesian government expressed intention to pursue an onshore-based LNG development scheme for the Abadi gas field. Indonesian President Joko Widodo rejected Inpex Corp and Royal Dutch Shell's proposal to build the world's largest FLNG plant in the country's east, saying an onshore plant would benefit its economy more.
