Interfax: Houston, shale gas has a PR problem
Oil company executives called on the oil and gas industry to seek public acceptance for shale drilling and other oil and gas developments at the CERA Week energy conference in Houston on Tuesday.
Statoil Chief Executive Helge Lund and Yves-Louis Darricarrere, the president of Total’s exploration and production and gas and power business segments, both stressed the need to gain the public’s trust in order to continue developing global oil and gas resources.
Both executives said oil and gas companies must secure a “licence to operate” in separate addresses to conference participants. “To do that we must demonstrate [the] ability to deliver safe and efficient operations,” said Lund. MORE
