WSJ INTERVIEW: EU Energy Chief Not Worried About Possible Rise In Russia Gas Imports

Europe's imports of Russian natural gas could increase significantly without creating a worrying dependence, the European Union's top energy official said Friday in comments that appeared to minimize longstanding tensions with Russia over the issue. 

Reducing the region's energy dependence on Russia has long been a key objective of EU energy policy, as energy issues have routinely created friction between Moscow and Brussels, where some officials remain wary of Russia's attitude to the EU.
