IOEC Drafts Iran-Oman Gas Pipeline Desk Study

The Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) has completed drafting desk study of the Iran-Oman gas pipeline and started producing basic engineering documents related to the land part of the project, state owned Shana news agency reported Tuesday.

The IOEC announced that it held meetings with contractors and reviewed their technical proposals on survey operations to finalise the route for laying the pipeline.

The 400-kilometer pipeline, stretching from Iran to Oman is defined in onshore and offshore sections. Land part of the gas pipeline extends for 200 kilometers from Rudan to Mobarak Mount in southern Hormozgan province. The seabed section between Iran and Sohar Port in Oman will stretch for another 200 kilometers.

The study on the maritime section was handed over to Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company. The study on the land section was assigned to Pars Consulting Engineers (PCE).

Around 30 percent of the gas that Iran plans to export to Oman would be used for producing LNG.
