IOG "working urgently" to resolve Blythe issue
London-listed IOG is "working urgently" to resolve a chemical injection fault that has led to the closure of the Blythe gas well in the south UK North Sea, the company reported on April 4.
The company and its offshore duty holder ODE Asset Management have investigated the fault and have concluded that additional process and safety studies and procurement of materials are needed to implement a solution. This work is underway "as rapidly as possible" so the well can be reopened, IOG said.

IOG stressed that the fault was a mechanical issue on the Blythe topsides and did not relate to the Blythe reservoir. Production at the company's Elgood well continues unaffected.
Blythe and Elgood are being developed as part of IGO's Saturn Banks project. The Blythe well was brought on stream on March 14, followed by Elgood two days later. The company expects to resume drilling a third well targeting the Southwark reservoir by mid-April.
