Iran Favours Asia Over Europe For Gas Exports

Asia will be the priority market for Iran when it came to gas exports, an energy officials told state owned Shana News.

Iran favours gas markets in Asia and the neighbouring states over Europe, Ali-Reza Kameli, head of National Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIGEC), said earlier this month.

Asian markets are attractive because of proximity, higher prices and rapidly rising consumption, he said.

On exports of gas to Europe via pipeline Kameli said several countries will charge Iran for exports through their soil which will reduce Iran's earnings.

Iran is gearing up to re-enter the global energy market after Tehran and six major global powers signed a nuclear deal last month, paving the way for lifting of sanctions.
