Iran-Iraq Gas Pipeline to Be Operational in November

Iran-Iraq natural gas pipeline is likely to be operational by November, Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs Hussain al-Shahristani said.

In July this year, the two neighbours signed a gas supply deal under which Iran will supply 25 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas to Sadr, Baghdad and al-Mansouryah power plants through pipeline.

The 270 kilometre pipeline will start from Assaluyeh, near the offshore South Pars gas field in southern Iran, and will continue into Iraq

According to Fars News Agency, the Iraqi minister also said that his country is about to sign another contract to import Iranian gas.

Earlier this year, former Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qassemi announced that the country will gain more than $5bn from gas exports to Iraq, the news agency reported.
